Jon Lee Andersen, the principal of The Andersen Law Firm, was born and spent his childhood in Southern Indiana.  He was educated at Purdue University (Go Boilermakers!) and obtained his law degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  Following a three-year tour of duty with the US Navy, Mr. Andersen began his legal practice in Decatur, Georgia as a trial lawyer.

Some time later, Mr. Andersen left private practice and joined Citizens & Southern Realty Investors, where he served as Vice President, Chief Counsel and Head of the Legal Department.  Seven years later he moved to Houston, Texas to become Head of the Legal Office of US Home Corporation.  Both Citizens & Southern and US Home were publicly traded, NYSE listed companies. While at US Home he was involved in the response and settlement of a false advertising claim by the Federal Trade Commission, which led directly to his involvement with advertising and marketing law issues.

After leaving US Home, Mr. Andersen returned to the Atlanta area and entered into private practice by joining two of his former law school classmates in their firm.  This firm subsequently merged with the larger, downtown Atlanta firm of Gambrell & Stolz, where he was a partner until his resignation.

Mr. Andersen now practices from his own office in a confederation of other attorneys linked together by the Internet.  He focuses most of his activity on advertising, marketing, communication and intellectual property matters.  His special interests are sweepstakes, contests and promotions, trademarks, copyrights, and advertising/marketing business matters.  A regular lecturer at The Portfolio Center and The Creative Circus, and the Atlanta Ad Club's Evening At Emory Program, he also writes for Oz Magazine and distributes a monthly newsletter focusing on items of interest to the advertising, promotion and marketing community. (To subscribe contact Mr. Andersen via e-mail at jlandersen@lawyer.com) Mr. Andersen is a Director and General Counsel to the Creativity Atlanta (the newly combined Atlanta Ad Club and Atlanta Creative Club). He is a former President of the American Marketing Association's Atlanta Chapter, where he presently serves on the Board and as the Chapter's Treasurer.

Mr. Andersen lives in Roswell, Georgia a suburb of Atlanta with his wife Lynn, a high school Spanish teacher. Their two children have followed their mother's career path, as their son is a high school teacher and wrestling coach in Virginia, and their daughter is an admissions counselor at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.
