Principal Biography

Mr. Andersen was born and grew up in Southern Indiana. He received his Bachelors degree from Purdue University (Go Boilermakers!) and JD degree from Emory University’s Law School. Mr. Andersen directed the legal Departments of two publicly traded NYSE listed companies: Citizens & Southern Realty Investors and US Home Corporation. While at US Home he was involved in the response and settlement of a false advertising claim by the Federal Trade Commission, which led directly to his involvement with advertising and marketing law issues.

After leaving US Home, Mr. Andersen returned to private practice by joining two of his former law school classmates in the formation of Martin, Cavan & Andersen. This firm subsequently merged with the larger Atlanta firm of Gambrell & Stolz, (now the national firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz), where he was a partner until his resignation.

Mr. Andersen now practices from his own office in a confederation of other attorneys linked together by the Internet. He focuses most of his activity on advertising, marketing, communication and intellectual property matters. His special interests are sweepstakes, contests and promotions, trademarks, copyrights, and advertising/marketing business matters. A frequent speaker at American Advertising Federation Chapters and other organizations in the Southeast, Mr. Andersen also lectures at The University of Georgia, North Georgia State College and Berry College, and The Art Institute of Atlanta. He also writes regular articles for Oz Magazine and distributes a monthly newsletter focusing on items of interest to the advertising, promotion and marketing community. Mr. Andersen is a Director and the General Counsel of the Atlanta Ad Club. He is a former President of the American Marketing Association’s Atlanta Chapter, where he presently serves on the Board and as the Chapter's Treasurer.

In 2008 Mr. Andersen received the Founders Award from The Freelance Forum for his services over the years to this Atlanta-based organization of freelance graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and writers.
